The history of Egil Verne AS

1950: Egil Verne AS (EV) was founded, and has since the very beginning focused on auto electrical components.

1992: EV became a part of the Nortel Group, owned by Mr. Arno Berg. With stronger financial backing, the company expanded their business rapidly into lighting equipment.

1997: EV decides to enter the Amber hazard/warninglight market. EV teams up with the new UK brand Vision Alert, starting the import and sale of beacons and lightbars. This turned out to be a perfect match for both EV and VA, and by the end of 2005 Vision Alert was the leading brand in the Norwegian lightbar market.

2002: EV quickly follows the innovating turn into HID technology by introducing xenon work lamps from the French manufacturer Auteroche. The decision to focus on HID technology at an early time turned out to be strategically correct.
The first web site with a fully operating web shop is ready to be used by our customers.

2003: The HID market is still slow, marginal and extremely expensive compared to the old halogen lamps. In spite of having a small market, EV quickly realizes that HID was a product for the future and that work lamps would exceed driving lamps by far in market potential. The Swedish brand NBB with the innovation Scandinavian design, was incorporated in our lighting range.
This year EV expands the product range to include CCTV systems.

2004: With the best selection of HID work lamps available in the market, EV soon became the leading company in the Norwegian market. LED technology used in automotive lighting was also fully introduced this year.

2006: EV starts a business relation with Sirius, one of the leading manufacturers of automotive lighting. The focus on HID technology was heavily strengthened by the new range of Sirius HID driving lamps.

2007: As the first company in Norway, EV is determined to supply a complete range of products for all the major truck brands in our market. Headlamps, fog lamps, driving lamps, flashers, marker lamps and rear lamps are now joined in one complete range.

2008: EV is well established as one of the leading importer of HID work- and driving lamps to the Scandinavian market. Our business is growing steadily, and we started exploring the possibility of developing new products. EV establishes contact with the Chinese CCTV manufacturer SharpVision to look at the possibility for a future business relationship.

2009: EV proudly introduces “Svision” to the Norwegian market. This new range of CCTV systems from SharpVision will become an important piece in our future product mix.
EV also launches their first own developed HID products in close relations with Sirius.

The staff at EV is well-informed and educated, in all the products we have available, and their knowledge means a huge difference to our customers.

EV carries up to 95% of the part numbers as standard stock items. Our warehouse in Oslo has the best location for distribution through out Scandinavia. It is of vital importance to our customers that we can deliver on short terms.

Today EV offers a wider range of automotive lighting than any of our competitors.
It is our intention to maintain in that position.
